I haven't played netball since school - will I still be able to play?

The aim of the Simple Netball League is to provide an opportunity for women who haven't played netball for a while to venture back onto the netball court!   It's amazing how quickly you'll learn to play the game again and pick up the skills that you need.   And there will be lots of other players in the same position as you!

I don't have a team to play for!

Not to worry, we also accept entries from individual player registrations.  We'll do all the leg work for you and place you in a team with other like-minded players.  We'll even organise a practice match for you and your team mates before the league starts.

Just register with us as an individual player and we will place you in team.   If you register with a friend, we'll ensure that you both get to play in the same team.

Go to the "Register now!" page and fill in your details there.

I think I have a full team - what do I need to do next?

We would recommend that you have between 7-10 players in your team.   If you're a player or two short, we can always put you in touch with individual players to make up the numbers.

When you're got your full team, go to the "Register now!" page and fill in your details.

What do I do if I can't get a full team out each week?

Teams must commit to doing their best to field a full side each week (there will be a £30 fine if a team is unable to fulfill their weekly fixture).

We will however do our best to ensure that this never happens by allowing you to play "ringers" - registered players from a different team who would like to play an extra game that week.

How much does the league cost?

Summer league 2010: It costs £110-140 per team to register for 5 weeks and £17.50 to register for 5 weeks as an individual player.   This includes the court hire, a set of bibs for your team, the match balls and of course your entry into the league.

The only extra cost is for the umpires which is £10 per game.   This works out at around £1.50 per player per game.

When are the matches played?

All matches will be played on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings either at 6.30, 7.20 or 8.10pm.   Your team will be given a copy of the fixture list before the league starts.   The fixtures will also be available on the website.

How long will the league run for?

The outdoor summer leagues start w/c Monday 26th April 2010 and will run for blocks of 5-7 weeks at a time until August 2010.    Then we'll be heading back indoors from the beginning of September.

What's the format of the game?

It's a 7-a-side game played according to All England Netball Association rules.   Matches consist of two halves of 20 minutes.

Do I have to provide an umpire?

No, the umpires will be provided for you.

Do I have to wear a netball kit?

There are no kit requirements in order to play in this league - all you need is a good pair of trainers, some comfortable clothes to play in and off you go!

Will I need any netball equipment?

No - the courts, balls, bibs and even the umpires are all provided so your team can just turn up and play.
